Composition Notebook Cover

So, life kinda happened since my last post. Sometimes that's just the way it's gotta be. But I'm back now to share some more fun projects and things with you so let's get right to it, shall we?

A while back I had a few card parties and one customer had so much fun that she signed up to join my team! I can't believe I haven't talked about her yet - shame on me. Her name is Juliet and she is super fun and energetic. She helps keep me motivated that's for sure. One thing I wanted to do was to make her a "Welcome to the Stampin' Up! family" gift. I decided to make a notebook for her. I took your basic composition book, some Designer Series Paper (DSP) and some Mod Podge and went to town. (Look for composition books in your local stores in the weeks to come & stock up with the Back To School sales everyone will be having!)

I chose the Elegant Soirée DSP [retired] for this project - Juliet may have a bubbly personality but I wasn't sure if she'd like "bubbly" colors. Her home is decorated in these browns and blues so I thought this would be a safe way to go.

Basically to make this book, after I decided on the designs I wanted to use, I eyeballed where I wanted my patterns to go. I then cut the paper to size, put a layer of Mod Podge over the cover of the book using a sponge brush then placed my DSP over the glue. To make the seam where the two pieces of paper meet look nice I just added a chocolate colored ribbon. I then made a "rosette" out of accordion folded paper, attached a little more ribbon and a button. Just like that, she was done. I did have to go back and round the corners of the DSP to match the corners of the composition book but that was a breeze using my handy-dandy Paper Snips. (Have I ever told you how much I love these small, super-sharp scissors? Well, it's a lot!!)

Now Juliet has a pretty place to write her ideas, sketch card layouts and write down her Stampin' Up! wish list. Of course she could use it for for other things like a to-do list. Perhaps having my to-do list in something pretty like this would make me more likely to actually accomplish the things on my list. Hmmmm....

Happy Creating!
